Crypto Law Clerk
Looking for an entry-level legal position in the fast-growing crypto space? Look no further! Gordon Law, a boutique law firm in Northfield, IL, is looking to hire a Crypto Law Clerk for our cryptocurrency tax division. We have been working in crypto since 2014 and represent many individuals and businesses with their crypto tax compliance needs.
Unlike many areas of crypto law, tax is something that almost every crypto trader or investor needs to be aware of! We stay busy all year round.
Don’t know anything about crypto tax? No worries, we will train you! But, a familiarity with cryptocurrency is required.
Responsibilities
Research and advise on cryptocurrency transactions and tax positions
Reconcile clients cryptocurrency records to create tax reports
Trace client transactions through public ledgers/ blockchain
Conduct legal research and prepare legal memoranda on crypto and tax law issues
Assist attorney’s in preparation of individual and business tax returns and tax reports
Organize client’s crypto data and identify gaps in data to assist attorneys in crypto reconciliation
Qualifications
2L or 3L
Accounting/statistics knowledge/experience is preferred, but not required
Understanding of cryptocurrency and blockchain
Attention to detail and ability to work with large amounts of data- you will be working through thousands of client transactions!
Competency in Microsoft Excel Required
Interest in tax law
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Availability to work minimum 10-20 hours per week while in school
Desire to learn a new skill set in a growing space, with potential for full-time employment upon passing the IL bar exam
Most work will be remote, but occasional office meetings required
